Kresimir Franjic, PhD
Founder and Principal Scientist of Beam LogiQ
Kresimir Franjic is an accomplished scientist, innovator, and entrepreneur with a strong background in medical optics and advanced scientific data analysis. As principal scientist and founder of Beam LogiQ, he employs grit, stamina, and ingenuity to help medium-sized enterprises and startups meet their most demanding technological objectives.
Over the years, he’s taken a thrilling journey through the fields of science and technology, intermingling studies of optical imaging, photons, and cancer cells, while getting his hands dirty with amplifiers, chemicals, and milling machines. But, it hasn’t all been fun and games
…
Kresimir’s worked diligently throughout his career, earning his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, while studying novel laser surgery methods and biological mass spectrometry. In recognition of his academic achievements, in 2010, Kresimir was awarded Canada’s most prestigious honor for academic excellence, the Governor General’s Gold Medal.
Later, he spent two years as a visiting scientist at the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter in Hamburg, Germany, before working as a research lead in neurosurgical spectroscopic imaging for Synaptive Medical. Throughout the course of his career, he’s also cofounded three companies, putting his energy and innovative nature to good use.
When he isn’t taming lasers, corralling computer bits, or indulging his newfound passion for sailing, you can find Kresimir swinging a tennis racket, kicking around a soccer ball, testing his luck on the ski slopes, or enjoying pints of beer with friends … while probably pondering the “whys” and “hows” of something.
